Memory Out Of Sight
By Poet Charles Bryant, visit his profile at http://www.poetryvisualized.com/profile/brychar/ Memory Out Of Sight Along the ambient memory of a forgotten shore the dead sounds of broken waves still echo from a distant, time-stilled beach left over from an unremembered youth. No concrete form can reinforce the sense of desolation ensuing from those fluted, fallen whisperings of falling waters never moving, forever frozen as if gripped by ice; while the dreamlike dissonances of their breaking are always present, though unrelieved by sight. I know the wind was sighing in my ears when I, a boy, descended to the foreshore road beneath a sun opaqued by heavy clouds and lost my footsteps in the salt-bleached sand. I left the memory of my thoughts upon that shore and time's high-water-mark dissolved their imprint and shed their essence along the tidal boundary and wracked sea-garbage inflicted by a former moon.
