This is the English translation of a small poem in Vietnamese Lục Bát form (6-8 form) written while longing for the return of a person who will never come back .
Em Về
Đêm nay chắc em lại về //// Trăng sao đành lỗi hẹn thề với đêm
Giá lạnh sương mù giăng trên //// Bước chân lữ thứ buồn tênh quê người.
The accompanying music is an 80 years old song "Dạ Cổ Hoài Lang" (Missing My Spouse When Hearing the Sounds Of The Timing Drum* at Night) composed by a most famous Vietnamese musician Mr Cao Văn Lầu.
Note: (*) In the older time, a big drum is played every two hours at night in Vietnamese villages to mark the time.
