Rhythms Street

Souls of the city light driven by smiles and smiles,
around and around the uptown down attracted to city wiles.
Tripping to, tripping fro, tripping anxious cats,
Avoiding the frowns of clowns and getting blues on their spatz.
Taken for granted it ain’t no small thing,
Millions and millions of reachers and only one brass ring.
Lookin up or lookin down, it’s all in what you mean,
ya gotta scuff up them blues shoes if you’re gonna make the scene.
Skidding soles on the centerline paint, empathy groans the working girl saint, she gyrates plastic smiles and her hips do the talking.
Benjamin’s sparks up her eyes and her lips do the walking.
Umm!
Skitter here and scattered there smiles and frowns glowing up everywhere, fireflies of attitude lighting up the night.
Blink, blink, blink, blink, blink.
Here we go again makin up for lost time,
sugar coated smiles and oh how they shine.
Momma said they were sticky and all over the place,
Now I got this shit on my shoes, and a smile on my face.
