My orthopedic doctor informs me
that the intense pain in my right shoulder
is arthritis from the many rough years
of wear and tear on the rotator cuff.

He recommends physical therapy
for this aging man through … and through. I’m
resisting the tendency to rescue Mom
and kill Dad ‘cause all that’s getting old too.
