Prizzi Honor - una poesia

Prizzi’s a little community in
the Italian Province of Palermo
on the incendiary island of

Sicily where I was more or less part
of a unity with The Family -
mine - where I was born in this time but not

In their space so I have wondered ever
since I was young and studied until I’m
old what I could find that moved my father

And his lot to live a life of inbred
crime while I spent my passion making rhyme
and thinking too long about why I was

Treated like I had committed a wrong
– ostracized - on the outs – a damned loser -
an All-American gonner, but you

Know I’m not so complex after all - no
longer! I do see where I’m from this
relative Prizzi pride and hate called honor.
