I Smile

A reading of an original poem by myself:

When I open my eyes
I hold in my hand
The answers to questions long pondered
For a time I contemplate in silence
Then I smile

Flight 101

This is the poem that resulted from an invitation by Tansel to interested members of Poetry Visualized to come out with a less than 100 word poem about some film snippets that came from a movie he made (trailer?).It was difficult to come out with what I thought was a good enough poem without reconstructing the film clips with another film I made which served as bookends for this visual poem. I would be great if a voice-over with music background could be added, but it just takes a lot of time and this is supposed to be a group effort. So, any takers for film editing & musical scores? Hope you enjoy this!

Eve

Are women to blame for original sin or was Eve simply more
human in her choices? In the classical tradition, an apology was an explanation
for a great event. Eve by Timothy Victor Richardson is a poetic explanation,
as interpreted by Jeff Flint. Graphic courtesy, bigfoto.com

EVE

an Apology
by
Timothy Victor Richardson

She did not know enough to shun the serpent

because He made her adolescent

at a time when there was nowhere to restore,

nothing to hide, when she no more

foresaw what dying meant than imagined hate

until, to taste the truth, she ate.

Even in paradise, lies stalk a flaw:

as must we, she opened her eyes and saw

that evil never is as it appears

when emptying promises in ears

too immaculate to sense the voice of a mask;

thus, love became our sacred task.

Without the shame that keeps us so incomplete

we, starved for gardens, meet,

believing anything to be possible

for the life of flesh’s infinite spiral,

so stirred by the depth of darkness in His plan,

it was she who had the heart to be human.

Pain List

Pain List
by MrDaMan
Virgil R. Hall II (Randy)

Are you gonna cry? Go ahead.
You are the center of the universe,
where would you be without… you?

Pain is the silver spoon that feeds envy
delectable treats of inequality.
Want is the gruel of ambition.

Fairness is getting your way.
Unfairness is getting in your way.
Perception defies reality, painfully so.

Peace is the lack of adversity,
declaring war on boredom.
Pleasure is a death knell, pain is life.

Are you still crying into the black hole
soul that sucks the gravity of your desires?
Good! Tear off a piece and be glad you’re sad.

List your pain and show it to no one,
no one cares, no one dares, it is yours to love.
Cry baby, cry, without it you die.
